Can you believe that an entire year is almost gone? Some of you believe in getting dressed up especially with the month ahead that boasts holiday parties, year-end social and office gatherings, making the rounds, and celebrating in special outfit after special outfit. Save your energy for when it really matters. Take a personal day to plot your triumphant return to your new style.

1. Flip the Holiday Dress Script and shop from your Wardrobe.
How many times have you walked into a holiday affair only to see you are just another woman or man in some version of the "little black dress"? Or have you noticed that you were? Instead of jumping into your little black dress again, shop from your closet/wardrobe instead! This season is about classic vintage elegance with a tweak from your normal styling of yourself. Unlike more conservative events (awards night, Birthdays, Pageantry event, Music or Movie awards, etc.), the year-end holiday season evening affairs are the perfect time to think out of the box a bit. You will be amazed at how modern you look, and how many compliments you get on your gorgeous style, for most men and women would not have thought to do the same.
2. Make Surprises as Chic elegance.
Remember FASHION is about trends, and STYLE is a reflection of your life. Wear what makes you feel like you this season. Confidence always leads the way. As for the ladies, if you are in the mood of revenge dressing, challenge yourself to put fashion before function with an accessory- namely the GOLD high heels. They are the sexist shoes ever and they act like nude shoes, for they go with everything, but they have a little seventies flair I love. The biggest mistake is mixing trends. Stick with one theme. It is so beautiful to see a woman with a strong sensibility like boho, modernist, or minimalist. I am a believer in men and women who don't follow rules and embrace who they are. I love that!

3. Wearing an arresting and unlikely colour to bring out your colour.
Colour can evoke distinct moods simply from within. Have you ever taken the time to notice how you feel when you wear a drab colour? Or the reaction you have to your favourite colour on someone else? The feeling is contagious and sometimes hard to capture and describe, but it definitely exists. For instance, PINK signifies romance, love, and friendship, whereas RED-based orange corresponds to desire, romantic, passion, pleasure, a little domination, and a hunger for action- you determine the type to suit your mood and the season or occasion. LIGHT YELLOW is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy. AQUA is associated with emotional healing and protection, and its little cousin LIGHT BLUE is also associated with healing, as well as health, tranquility, understanding, and softness. Be intentional when wearing colours, for they evoke different feelings. For the season, pick a colour you might never imagine yourself wearing today. One you forgot you had, or maybe a new piece you grabbed on sale just to justify the experiment. Gauge your internal reactions and those around you. You'll be amazed at how a simple adjustment of your colour might just SPARK JOY in you and the people around you.
4. Bring out your shape and resurrect that CLASSIC timeless silhouette.
All women have curves, and if you are one of those who never quite knew what the perfect dress was for your body, your answer may have been there under your nose for decades in the wrap dress - a dress that has continually enjoyed years of fame since the 1970s. For women who have more straight or lean curves, this silhouette can help create the optical illusion of a smaller waist. The joy of this dress is its adjustability. You can actually enjoy the dinner night event and have an escape hatch if you really can't resist the festive season goodies on the dinner table. This is the dress that won't betray you as it is so versatile.
Many guys hesitate to splurge on suits because they anticipate wearing them only a few times each year, what they don't realize is that the more flattering a suit is, the more occasions you'll find to wear it. We'll look at suits in detail in the Gentlement Style series.

5. Create your own version of a stylish outfit combination.
The end-year season is about winding down, but your glow is still in effect. Celebrating style diversity can be a fun way to play up your creativity with intelligence. It can be tricky if you replicate too many other's fashion styles. The way to balance out the look is by pairing bold ethnic or vintage pieces with one that is clearly more classic/conservative, or downright alluring. Each unique piece will play up the other. And it is a quick way to high style, without looking like you are in a costume. To suit your holiday mood, your outfits are about dressing to the occasion and to suit your clothing personality too.
