Do's

1. Wear a "light" version of your usual make-up.

Put on a light foundation and moisturizer and brighten sleepy eyes with concealer. A little mascara and blush can also help your face feel "done" and "lifted" without trying too hard and looking effortless chic.

It is hard to feel motivated when you roll out of bed and work in your pajamas or jumpsuits. That's why getting dressed for work-from-home can make the difference between a productive day and a restless day. Wear an outfit that makes you feel comfortable for a start, yet would still look good if wearing out of the house. Do ensure it's consistent with what you'd typically wear to the office. You want to appear ready to get work done, not lounge around.

3. Select a collared top.

Pay special attention to the tops you select because that's what will be in view during zooming or video conference calls. A collared oxford blouse provides a structure that oozes crispness and professionalism. If you are the superior or leader of your unit or company, you may need an extra layer to add presence, by adding either a cardigan or blazer before zooming or video conferencing before the camera.

4. Appreciate and love your leggings.

Your favorite pair of black leggings make the perfect pairing to a nice oversized or doubled-layered top. Stretchy bottoms aren't as constricting as slacks or jeans, which means you can look and feel comfortable, relax, and move around more with ease.

Opting for more sophisticated pants, like a knit lounge will only help your mood and in turn, your performance, and these lounge pants are just so comfy.

5. Opt for an easy dress.

A cotton dress is a great go-to when you don't feel like wearing pants or leggings. They are low maintenance and a useful option to throw on for those days when you are in a rush with time.

6. Add Accessories for a finishing touch with Panache

A simple, understated jewellery is usually best, but you can add a pop-up statement necklace or earrings if you want to project added presence or attention.  The right balance of accessories gives you a way to express your personality and add some finesse (panache) so you can stand out, and as well add a little fun with your fashion style.

7. Have a selection of shoes.

For some people, putting on their shoes can help signify that they are ready for work. There is no need for high-heels when working from home, but it is wise to have footwear to choose from. Stock your closet with comfortable sneakers, wedges, flats, and mules to mix and match with your outfits.

Don'ts: Never wear uncomfortable heels, instead wear Block heels, Mules, or Flats.

Key takeaway tips and recommendation:

Finding comfort where you can it could mean working from whichever space or corner you might find readily available rather than a properly equipped desk and a workstation chair. Finding a 'healthy balance between comfort and style" is key as is opting for pieces like linen or silk pants, cotton button-ups, fitted cardigans, and modern-day house dresses to keep comfortable. The items must be soft enough to withstand mid-afternoon poor postures and pass what we call the "stretchy enough" test.

Is your company acquiring the necessary skills for 'Customer Intimacy'?

Leaders can and must lead, but employees from all ranks of a company - from the back office and the front - must participate in the shift to CUSTOMER INTIMACY. A team spirit, and a sense of shared GOALS, must light up a company's efforts at intimacy. Teams of people working together create more excitement, more energy, more ideas, and more enthusiasm than individuals ever can. Try to imagine your own company. Think about your current position in the marketplace and your prospects for the future. What are your aspirations, your hopes, and your dreams?  Customer Intimacy offers tailored solutions to its customers. Together, the salesperson and customer sit together to commit to a shared goal.  Photo courtesy: Unsplash Lessons from the BEST Selling Companies and Brands, who specifically focus on one of the key "Value Disciplines", which is "Customer Intimacy". How Far Is Too Far? An ethics questionnaire to help you decide.

In the business world, it is often difficult to know when our actions are ethical and when they are not. How Far is too far when faced with the ethics questionnaire? The more you compete with others for business, the more difficult it will be to decide what's ethical and what's not. Competition drives the economic system, legal system, and political system. Competition drives our society, and that means we are all pitching, all the time. Image Courtesy: Unsplash by Kelly Sikkema How far should a sales pitch actually go? As an Image cum Strategist Coach, I've found myself faced with scores of ethical dilemmas.  Here are some basic ethical principles that can help guide our decisions or help us determine whether a particular action is ethical or not. Full disclosure is the best policy. Anything that can be done openly and publicly without embarrassment is inherently ethical. But the converse is not true- things that must remain secret aren't necessarily unethical. Competi

Would you like a cup of coffee? You say....

Why do people like looking in the mirror? Why do people like looking in a mirror? We mostly mirror unconsciously. One of the fastest ways to create a good first impression and improve rapport is to use the mirror image. People will think you're reading their minds.  Why use the mirror image? Why do people like looking in the mirror? Ever seen a yawn become contagious? If you smile at someone, don't they smile back? Doesn't it make you feel happier?  Sometimes, we don't have to say anything or too much, or crack our heads to use any chat lines. In the initial stage, it's a sincere SMILE that makes a difference. Once you've ' broken the ice ', words become the focus. Remember a good smile is an asset in building relationships as it helps to connect. Leaders and successful business people can make very effective use of this intangible skill in improving leadership and interpersonal relationship building.  Image Credit: By Alexandr Ivanov of Pixabay You smil
